Occupation: music teacher
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 4 From Lynn: It's hard to believe it's been 20 years. I've enjoyed reading what everyone has been up to for the past 2 decades. After graduation, I went to Concordia College in Moorhead and got my music education degree. After teaching band in southwest Minnesota for 3 years. I met my husband, an Alexandria native, and we've been in this area ever since. I split my time between two jobs that I enjoy, teaching elementary music in Alexandria and doing what I really love, being a mom to my four beautiful kids, Camille (9) Bryant (almost 6), Matthew (4 and a half) and Lexi (3). |

Occupation: Business Owner
Marital Status: Married From Wendy: I graduated from UMD with a business degree and worked for a nonprofit organization for ten years developing homebuyer education programs. While still living in Duluth, I opened a gift shop in Grand Rapids, in 2001, called Kindred House Company. I thought it would be just a seasonal, weekends only, kind of store. Well, that never happened! I've been open everyday, year round for seven years! With my business a success, we moved back to Grand Rapids in 2002. I correct my husband when he tells people that we live in Deer River... "we don't live in Deer River, we live in Cohasset!" Ha Ha. In 2005, we purchased Bahr's Furniture in Deer River. Now you know why he says we live in Deer River! Kevin and I have been married for 15 years. We love living here and being near my family! We're big hockey fans! See you at the reunion. |

Occupation: Real Estate Sales
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 2 From Carrie: It goes fast, doesn't it. After graduation I attended ICC for a couple of years after HS, got married to Pete Klassen (GR transplant) in '90, had Jake (now 17 years old), moved to Rochester MN in '92, and then had Colten (now 15). I spend a lot of time sitting and cheering on bleachers (not much different from HS - only when I get home, I know what the score was) My world is busy with work, typical kids' events, pulling weeds, and enjoying time with friends. I am a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Burnet, (four years) and the tumbling coach for our PEM competition cheer team as well in my "free time." A few years ago, I went back to school so I am in my 3rd year at WSU (Elem. Ed). Some nights there are three of us doing homework. When he's not hoot'n and hollerin' for the Bulldogs and doing his typical "guy stuff" (that list is longer than mine), Pete puts his time in with a company called Haley Comfort Systems (heating/cooling). Jake, my 17 year old is a riot, always making me laugh - always a step ahead. He loves the social aspect of - everything. This year he went to prom for the first time (tear) and of course he's driving. (I don't sleep as well as I used to.) Colten is my quieter child who takes life a little bit more seriously (a little shy like his mom) but with every year he becomes more outgoing and random. A highlight this past winter was taking the boys to their first concert up in the cites - Matchbox Twenty (near where this photo was taken) - it was fantastic. I come back to GR most every year during fishing opener and sometimes more to see my mom. I miss the lakes - the river here is gross. I refuse to eat the fish that comes out of it. Life was good then; life is good now. Great reading what everyone's been up to, awesome website!!. Hope to see you at the reunion! |

Occupation: Special Education Teacher
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 1 From Nancy: Hello Everyone! It's been so much fun reading everyone's bios. I can't believe the adverturous things many of you have done! My life has not been nearly as exciting as many of yours, but I wouldn't change it for the world. After graduating from high school, I attended ICC, UW-Stout, and ended up at BSU, where I received my degree in education. I taught and coached at Deer River High School for a few years before getting a job in the Grand Rapids School District seven years ago. I am currently a Special Education Teacher at Robert J. Elkington Middle School in GR where I work primarily with students with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities. I rarely have a dull moment in my classroom, but love working with teenagers and their many challenges. My husband, Eric, and I married in 1997. Eric is the head of Security and Crisis Management for the Grand Rapids School District. In 2001, we welcomed the birth of our first son, Kobie. In 2003, I gave birth to, and buried, our second son, Karson. Burying my own child was the hardest thing I have ever done, but it has given me a greater appreciation for family, friends, and the things that really matter in life. Eric and I both have 9 month positions at the school, so in the summers, we move up to our cabin at North Star Lake Resort. There, we help Eric's mom and dad, who own the resort. The five of us maintain the 19 cabins, work the restaurant, and run kids activities throughout each day. I often tell people that teaching is my "easy" time of the year, because in the summer I work 24/7. Although it is a lot of work, we have a lot of fun at the resort and have made some really great friends who visit us year after year. When we're not working, we lead a pretty typical northern Minnesota life. Eric, Kobie, and I are very into sports and the outdoors, so we spend a great deal of time at the hockey arena, baseball field, and soccer field. Our occassional trips to the cities generally include a Twins or Wild game. We also spend a lot of time hunting and fishing. I look forward to reading future bios, and hope to see all of you at the reunion in August! |
