From Rob:
Hi everyone,
hard to believe its been 20 years.  When I left school I went into the service.  I came back to Rapids in 1992, I met my wife Kris shortly after I returned, and then went to college.  We have 2 daughters, Heaven 7 and Taryn 3.  They keep us pretty busy, but  the rest of our time is devoted to work and outdoors sports.  I look forward to the reunion since I missed the first one. See you soon

From Lisa:

After graduation I attended St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1992 with a degree in Elementary Education. I married Mike Hare (class of 87) in February of 1992. We lived in Bemidji until 1994 when we moved to Appleton, Wisconsin and became Packer fans. I have recently returned to teaching after being out of the classroom for 12 years and am currently teaching 3rd grade. We have two beautiful daughters, Britta (10) and Anna (8). We make it back to GR once or twice a year to visit both of our parents who are still in the area. We attended Mike's 20th reunion last year and had a BLAST! I can't wait to catch up with everyone.

From Dan:
I was reading Jamie Coffel's basic truths and I have to agree.  How true they are, but my perspective has changed so much with time... now the police say "go home Hecht, you're too old to be drag racing at the stoplights!", or in the case of Bagley, MN it's "stop - light", singular.  The racing vehicle of choice is now a four-door Accord with child seats in the back.  And "Bad Hair" is not my problem any more, No Hair is my problem.

I spent a couple of years at ICC, then one more out in Fargo at NDSU.  I ended up graduating from Bemidji State, then took a job in a small town near Bemidji with the County of Clearwater.  Typical government job, read the paper, drink coffee, 8 to 5, nothing exciting.

I married my high school sweetheart, Jennifer (Loscheider), in 1995 and we have two beautiful daughters, Maija (8) and Sarah (6).  All of you parents know what we keep ourselves busy with now.  Raising good kids is the priority and everything else just happens as it will.

Hobbies include home improvement, snowmobiling, camping with the family and spending time in the summer at the home place at Bass Lake near GR.  We still love the Grand Rapids area and we're lucky enough to be close enough to spend a lot of time there.

See you in August.  I'll go golfing only if I can drive the cart.  If anybody's up for waterskiing though, that can be arranged.

From Michael:

Where to start?  2 years at ICC.  1 year at UMD.  Inspired by the events of 1990 in the Persian Gulf (ran out of money), I enlisted in the Navy specializing in Nuclear Power.  I served on the aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson, for two tours in the Persian Gulf.  In my homeport of Alameda, California I was able to attend UC-Berkeley where I double majored in physics and mathematics.   During those 6 years, I made lifelong friends with the guys that I served with.  It’s now 10 years later, and 20 or so of us still get together once a year to ski/drink in Colorado.  I met my wife, Stephanie, while stationed in Seattle and she truly is the love of my life.  We have made our home in Hastings, MN since 1998. I have worked for Xcel Energy as a Reactor Operator at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Station for 10+ years.  (No, I do not glow in the dark!) We have 2 beautiful children, Joseph-4 and Madeline-5.  My daughter is such a little princess!  If it was up to her, everything she owns would be pink and have Cinderella on it.  My son is a real bruiser.  He’s already had 6 stitches…I’m so proud.  It’s nice to see that I’m not the only one who has young kids.  I guess a lot of us got a late start in that phase of life.  My parents still live in Cohasset and I visit several times a year.  However, it doesn’t feel like the same place we all grew up with.  I still run a little, but 6’/190lbs. is a long ways away from the 5’7”/122 lbs. I was in the spring of 1988.  Can’t wait to see how we’ve all changed.

Michael

From Sue:
Well, where to begin.  I got married in '96 to a great guy.  We have two wonderful girls.  Katie is 9 and Maddie is 7 (going on 17).  I hear all the time how I have no fashion sense.  By 7 they know it all!

We just recently moved back to MN.  We missed being able to see our families.  We lived in IL. and WI before coming back.  Ken works for Chrysler Corp. as a Warehouse Manager and I am working for Kohls as a Replenishment Supervisor.  I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom until last year.

Like alot of you I am also a soccer mom.  Katie is a really great player, Maddie doesn't want to get hit by the ball.  Thank goodness Maddie also likes horses.  They both love their horseback riding lessons.  Lately all I hear about is how they want piano lessons.  (I'll never be able to quit my job)

Anyway, we are living in Elk River now, very close to home.  I get back all the time.  I drive by Paul and Sheri's house all the time.  It is very nice!

It was fun to read everyone's bio.  Great website!

From Tim:

…So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet…and I get on as a looper…
...It really didn’t work out, so I attended & graduated the U of M (Mpls) with a BS in Civil Engineering - structural emphasis (it only took 6 years!).  In 1994, I figured it would be my last chance to live the irresponsible life of a ski bum, so I took a job at Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado.

I was just getting settled when I got the call to begin a real job in Vail, Colorado and never left.  Now I get to enjoy the life of a responsible ski bum although our daughter, Katelin (9), has taken over that role.  She has become quite the little racer placing 4th overall at the NASTAR National Ski Championships in Steamboat this year (just let me dote) and will begin Ski Club Vail in the fall for more intense training.  I thought it was humorous when her mom couldn’t keep up, but now I’m experiencing the same demise.

I hit the mid 30's and everything began to fall apart.  One frisky day in 2007 I decided I would show my daughter’s ski team the talents of a true legend and, feeling 25 again, I maximized my airtime shooting out of the half-pipe like a roman candle only to have my ankle wrapped around my neck upon landing.  (I don’t think I’ve been capable of touching my foot to my head since, well...infancy.)  Needless to say, thank God for cadaver parts.  My new ACL is doing fine.

Since 2001 I have owned and operated a structural engineering and design firm (KRM Consultants, Inc.) with offices in Vail, Littleton (Denver suburb), and Steamboat Springs.  We specialize in the design of custom vacation-homes in resort communities.   If you know of any licensed engineers looking for a job, let me know!
