From Carolee:
After I graduated I had a son and married my high school sweetheart, Rob Rasner (GRHS '89). Never did do anything in the right order. Here we are almost 19 years later and still together. Our son, Jared, is 18 and graduating this year and our daughter, Becky, is 13 and will be starting high school next year. Our first two turned out so good that we decided that we had better stop there before we screw something up.

We've done our share of moving, but in the end we wound up here in Duluth so we are fairly close to our hometown. We live about five minutes from anyplace that one would want to go but still have all the benefits of living in the country. I work for a website development company in a job that I love for the moment, but after Becky graduates will probably go with Rob in the semi Over-the-Road and see a good bit of the country.

We get to Grand Rapids once in a while as we both still have family that live in the area that we visit. We are looking forward to coming over that way this summer to get some fishing in and maybe some 4-wheeling.

I still carry a book with me wherever I go and still let my mouth get away from me when it comes to sarcastic comments so some things don't change. Oh...and pack rat that I can be I still have my Grand Rapids t-shirt that says, "Let's Go Big Shooters" which I couldn't get rid of for sentimental value.

I've lost touch over the years with those that I hung around with in school and hope to get together with them during the reunion. I can't wait to see how everyone turned out. See you then.

Hey Everyone!  Well I finally go around to putting some information on here.  I am living in GR with my wife (Anne) and two daughters Allision-10 and Andrea-6.  After high school I tried a year at UMD.  That was fun, but still confused as to what I wanted to be when I grew up I joined the Marine Corps.  Most of the time I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.  That is where I met my wife.  When my enlistment was up I came back home and thought I would try school again.  Well, 6 different colleges and 20 years later I am finally graduating in April.
I still keep in touch with most of the gang, and run into people around town and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.  Take Care.

20 years...........what does one say? Well, I will say this, 20 years went too damn fast! But it has been fun for the Richters. I have been involved in the construction biz from before high school, and have stuck with it, spending time in Minnesota, Alaska and Wisconsin learning it all. I now have two companies, one here in Grand Rapids and one in Helena Montana, spending time in both states.
I married Karen Millman(91grad GRhigh) in 1996(not sure what is longer, 20 year high school reunion, or 11 years married LOL!), have two kids, Katie-9 and Sarah-3 and that will be enough for me. I spend lots of time with the family, we go to Florida to Disney 1-2 times a year, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has not been there, have freinds all over the country from much traveling, and enjoy the outdoors to all aspects.
Other than that, just a down to earth guy just like before(shhhhhhhhh, dont tell Karen the truth).
I have also been involved in the EXTREME SNOWMOBILING industry the last 6 years. I have been working with a group from Montana making snowmobile hillclimb videos. specifically as a rider. Definitely some crazy chit! Check out our website at www.bigskyx.com and if you want a free video, send me an e-mail, and I will get one out to you!
Anyways, we still keep in touch with a few 88 grads, and cant wait to see everyone. I hope everybody is doing well, the bio's so far look great!

Thanks to Brian Anderson for getting this going!

If anyone ever comes to town, look me up! 1rst beer is on me.

So 20 years!!!!  That is so crazy.

After Hight School I moved to St. Cloud and enrolled in Cosmetology School.  I moved back home and finished school in Hibbing.
I had Allen and Christopher after that. Then we moved to Minneapolis. David Rimmer and I got married in 1994. I stayed home to take care of the kids until they were old enough to be on their own.  We lived in Blaine for about 5 years then we decided to move to Princeton. It reminds me of Grand Rapids when I was growing up. Small town every one knows you.
I am now divorced and have been for 3 years.
Allen is now 19 and going to college in Ely, MN for law enforcement. Christopher is 17 and a senior in High School. They are great boys and I would do this all over again.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.

From Karla:

What a trip the last 20 years have been.  I married my college sweetheart Steve and we just celebrated our 19th wedding aniversary in January.  We have four children, Andrew 18, Austin 13, Kaylee 10 and Kristopher 8.  We have recently been blessed with our first GRANDCHILD (holy crap, I am NOT that old!!) He was born Novemeber 2008.

After high school I really let myself go, getting up to a weight of about 280 pounds.  In the last 18 months, I have dropped it all and am now helping others fight the battle as a personal fitness trainer.  I am totally addicted to health and fitness.  The gym is my sanctuary and I am so blessed to be able to help other people find their way back from the disease of obesity.  I also work full time as a Realtor with the largest company in western Montana.  I have been in that business since 2004, and before that I was a stay at home mom for about 14 years.

In my spare time, what there is of it, I coach little league, basketball and soccer. As well as play in adult volleyball and softball leagues.  My family loves hiking the amazing Montana mountain trails and tubing the rivers.  We also took up downhill skiing, golfing, and running.  I plan on competing in my first triatholon later this year.

What I have learned, is that life is all about choices. I wake up everyday and make a CHOICE to be happy, to give love and to be of service to others.  As I said, I recently became a grandma and it was very difficult seeing my child go through a very painful process at 18.  He and the mother are not together and it has been, to say the least, less than ideal!  However, what I told him was this, "everyone makes mistakes, but what you choose to do from this point forward, to deal with the situation at hand, will define your charachter for the rest of your life.  Make a GOOD CHOICE!"

I hope that all of you will find the blessings and opportunities in every situation you face.  Remember Attitude is Everything!!

Hello everyone,

This website is great, I check it several times a week to see who else has posted their bio.  It took me awhile because I didn't have a recent photo of all of us.  So there it is, taken on vacation last week.
My life has been pretty chronological, not as exciting as many of yours.  After high school I went to St. John's University for four years, then on to Med School at UMD for two more years, from 92-94.  I married a greenie I met while in high school, Maureen Adams class of '87, between first and second year of med shcool in 1993.  Third year of med school was spent in Park Rapids where my son,Gaetan, was born in '95.  15 months later my daughter Nicolette was born just after graduating med shcool in the cities in '96.  The next five years were spent mostly in North Dakota where I did residency.  My daughter, Gabrielle was born in '98 but died of pneumonia a day later.  I became a full fledged surgeon in july 2001 and moved to Hibbing where I have been ever since.
I know what your thinking, but Hibbing isn't that bad.  It's just when my kids play sports against Rapids and I have to cheer for Hibbing that it tugs at me a bit.  Otherwise it's a nice place to raise kids, and close to all the things we like to do; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and of course lots of kids sports and activities.
Great to read all your bios, I can't wait to catch up with everyone at the reunion.

Howdie!  The web-site is addictive--, thank you for all your time and hard work.  Joe is envious of this site because he's from the Bemidji High class of '88 and they have barely picked the date for their 20th reunion!  Rapids Rules!
Anyhow...back to the business of updating my profile.  I went to ICC for two years, then off to Bemidji State, where I met my hubby of almost 13 years. Graduated with a degree in Applied Psychology with a couple of emphases that really didn't help get me that awesome job I needed to pay off the student loans.  So, I waitressed in Bemidji for about a year.  In 1995 we moved to the cities and got married.  With my great degree from BSU (!) I ran a group home for adults with developmental disabilities.  It was a very rewarding job; without the rewarding paycheck, and really bad hours.  So, I decided I was going to find something else to do.  I worked in two different secretarial jobs (much better hours!) then landed at the Veterans Hospital in South Minneapolis in 2001.  While working at the VA, I started thinking that maybe I should try to get into a nursing program.  What a long process that was!  I was finally accepted to a 2-year RN program at St. Kates in 2005, the year our second child was born!  So, I worked full time, had two children, one of whom was an infant, and went to school.  I graduated from St. Kates in December 2007 and am now a full time RN on a medical inpatient unit at the VA.  I could not have done it without the support of my awesome husband!  We have two boys, Ethan,8, and Justin 3.  They are the joy of our life, even though they're really bossy!
Take care and hope to see you in August!

From Gregg:

It’s been a busy and fast 10 years since the last reunion.

In November of 2001, I was traveling in Argentina and met my wife (who is from there) and we were married in July of 2002.  Since then, we have had a little “princess” (she owns all of the dresses and shoes), Kianna – 3 and ½ now, and a son, Dante – 1 year.  We built a house in Argentina, on the back end of my parent-in-law’s 500 acre farm.  We spend two months per year there so my wife and kids can spend time with their “abuelos, tios y primos” (grand parents, uncles/aunts, cousins).  My Spanish is improving and is good enough to get by running our errands in town (groceries, furniture buying, hardware store, etc.).

While in Minnesota, we live on Forest Lake (Forest Lake, MN) and like to spend time boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter on the lake.  I spend a great deal of time snowmobiling in the winter in northeastern Minnesota with friends and my dad.  Last year, 2 friends and I snowmobiled around Lake Superior in 6 days (320 miles average per day).  This was a ride that I had wanted to do for over 10 years.

For work, we own two companies that help students and recent college graduates transition from school to career.  “Student Paths” provides a program to over 1 million high school students across the country that provides information (through an in-class publication) to students on their choices and options after high school.  Since I received a B minus in journalism class, I partnered with someone as the Publisher / Editor and focused on the business side of the operations.  My other company, Student Experience, merged with another company last year and was renamed “fahrenHEIGHT360.”  This company is positioned as an “innovative talent management company for the up and coming generation (gen Y or millennial generation as they are known).”  We help companies understand how to work with this generation in terms of finding the right talent and how to engage them once they are working for them.

20 years . . . lots more details.  No room for all of them here.  Looking forward to catching up with all of you at the reunion.

Hello Everyone--

WOW, I can't believe that it's almost been 20 years! I didn't make it to the last reunion (I lost both my parents that summer to cancer), but am looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones :-)

I am working at Southwest Elementary as a Paraprofessional, and am back in school to finish my Elementary Ed degree.

I met and married my "rock", Ken ('85 GRHS grad) in 1995, and we had 2 wonderful kids, Logan (9) and Maggie (4). I went back to work after Maggie was 2 for GR. I enjoy my job, but it was wonderful staying at home...I love your job description, Toni :-)

We live in the Wendigo area for the winters, and still have the cabin on Deer Lake where we spend our summers. The kids sure love being able to swim whenever they want to, especially when it's 90.

See you next Aug,
 Nancy
