Ok, ok I know I fled to TN in '86, but you are the people I grew up with, so I consider this to be my graduating class.  Besides...that's what my ring says!  So I left GR in '86, moved to Nasville.  Became a Corrections Officer in '88 & did that for 2 years, then joined the police force in Atlanta.  After almost being stoned to death during the Rodney King riots, I did a little re-thinking of my career choice.  I went to Lee University in Cleveland, TN, then did med school in Memphis, then residency in San Antonio, and now I'm in Anchorage, AK.  There's more to tell, of course, but if you want to know all the gory details, you'll have to ask!  Hope to see you all soon!

Hi everybody--thanks for putting this site together. My head is spinning after reading about everyone's lives and I think I know more about you all now than I did back in HS. I am still living out in CA and working as an actor along with a side job in Event Planning, but that's all taken a back seat for the last couple of years while we raise our 2 daughters, Amelia & Nora. I don't make it back to MN very often and haven't been to GR since the 10 yr. reunion. I don't know if I'll be able to make it this time, but I'll be thinking about you all!

Hi to classmates!  1988-2008, so much has happened for all of us marked by that little line!  The picture is that of my family, my amazing husband Rodney of nearly 16 years, our 13 year old daughter Kaylee, and our 10 year old son Kaleb.  We live in Pengilly and I work part time for Invest Early as a preschool teacher of 16 (4-5 )year olds.  It is very rewarding.  Like many of you, I'm in the season of life which includes sporting events, practices, performances and lots of running.  It's been fun reading the updates of your lives!

From Lisa:

I can't believe it's been almost six months since our reunion. We're almost ready to get together for a summer party. Our reunion was a blast and when it was done, I realized I didn't get a chance to talk to half of you. Also, I forgot names, what the heck. I will put some pictures on our website. I thought for sure there would be more...come on people just get them in there. This is coming from someone who procrastinated a year to write her life story for you all.

Anyway, after highschool I went to ICC for a year and then transferred to the University Wisconsin-Superior and graduated with my Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice/Political Science in 1993. I landed a job before I graduated from college and have worked in my field since. I have worked for Arrowhead Regional Corrections for almost 13 years. The first few years I worked with Juvenile Offenders and the last 7 years I've worked the Adult Unit. I have a Felony caseload now and I really enjoy my job. I have not had a boring day let me tell you. I have a story or two.

I have lived in Duluth, MN for 20 years and I married Nathan (Lee) Popkin in 1990. We will celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary this June. We were so young when we married, we were babies. We were not lucky in the baby department. Tried for years, then had three miscarriages that broke my heart (his too), so we are done in that area. I'm pretty tired of clinics, hospitals, and needles. We have a lake home so we enjoy it a lot, hard to leave home when you have the party barge (pontoon boat). We enjoy traveling, cooking, gardening, cross-country ski, roller blading, hiking and being with family and friends. We are on the move a lot. The last two years we've enjoyed traveling the Oregon and Califonria Coast. We love those Vineyards.

My dad and Nate's parents still live in Grand Rapids so we do make it home. We hope to see some of you this summer. For those who have kept in touch the last 20 years, even if it is just a Christmas card, I thank you for that. Nate and I enjoy hearing from you. Stay healthy and take care.

From Laina:

Wow.  It may not seem like yesterday since I was boring you all with my HS graduation speech (LOL!), but I sure don't feel like it's been 20 years!

Let's see...twenty years in a nutshell...I graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Economics and Norwegian (yeah...that one is pretty practical!).  After graduation I found myself unemployed...funny how that happens...so moved back home for a while, then worked for my aunt's dental practice (yuck!), then back to GR, then found what I thought would be my dream job - managing a Scandinavian Store (maybe the one job in the world that could actually use a Norwegian major!?!?) in southern MN.

The reality actually sucked, but as luck has it I did meet my husband (Xan Johnson).  Go figure...it was in a bar and he couldn't say my name but we've been married for 13 years!  We live in New Richland (a blip on the map between Waseca and Albert Lea).  We have 2 kids - our son Raece is in 6th grade and our daughter Maurya is in 3rd.  I also have a step-daughter, Sally, who is 25 and is teaching music half-time while going to grad school for school psychology.  Xan retired from teaching last spring and I'm working hard at turning him into the perfect house-husband! :-)

When the Scandinavian store and I parted ways, I found a job working for a road construction company and have worked my way up the construction accounting ladder.  I am now the controller of four sister companies (and minority owner of one of them) in Medford, MN.  We do underground utilities & site development, prdouce aggregates, and have a paving company.  It keeps me busy, to say the least!  I suffer from the inability to say "no" so do a lot of volunteering (hey...anyone need some GS cookies?) and all those other fun things that go along with being a parent!

Sheesh...this got kinda long-winded...hope you're still awake!  ;-)
